Celtica French Bakery
218 Allen Toussaint Blvd, New Orleans, LA
Crema's Take
“Celtica brings genuine French bakery charm to New Orleans with beautifully laminated pastries and thoughtful flavor profiles that let quality ingredients shine—think delicate peach danish and buttery croissants without excessive sweetness. The bright, modern space invites both quick coffee grabs and lingering conversations over traditional drinks, though the layout can feel tight when the line snakes past the intimate seating. It's a neighborhood gem where attention to detail in the pastries matters more than pretense, even if purists might debate whether paper serviceware fits the French aesthetic.”

Wife and I love this little gem! Great pastries, and attention to details are a winning theme for Celtica. Since we found this place they have changes their coffee source to truck coffee which is a little btoo bold for me but the wife loves it. We usually get the homemade ham and cheese croissant and a few baquettes to go for home. Keep shooting for the moon Celtica!
Liked the Pari Brest and Swirl Croissant. However coming from Madison, WI, I have to say we have better croissant. The blue berry one is also not very good
Atmosphere: Nice new building with lots of natural light but the layout makes it awkward for the few seated tables because the long line goes between them with little space. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Not sure why they tacked on tacky plastic flowers on the molding? Food: 11:30 AM on a Sunday morning and you’re out of so many ingredients that you can’t make 2 of the only 4 sandwiches you offer? Sandwich was good, and toasted well. Not worth $16. 4/5. Pastries: ordered one apricot pastry and one apple cinnamon. Apricot one was good, 4/5, and apple one was great, 4/5. Coffee: $5 base iced latte. They up-charge you ridiculously for everything without giving you a heads up. Asked for caramel sauce or syrup and I said both, and they added $2 on, without giving a heads up that they’re $1 extra each. Not great coffee either. Basic automated machine taste, and they bring nothing to your table, so if you sit outside, you have to run back in every 10 min to check to see if it’s ready. 2/5 Service: superrrr unfriendly staff, seem annoyed throughout the entire order, not a smile in sight. Don’t look for southern hospitality here 😂The male serving pastries and taking sandwich orders was super impatient with the guests in front of us as well, who asked very simple questions so they could make a decision. Paper plates and plastic cups, so you’re forced to bus your own table too. 1/5 Value overall: 2/5 overpriced coffee and sandwiches for the area, taste, and service. Would not return, especially after the bad taste in my mouth from the rude employee attitude. $45 for one sandwich, two coffee, and two pastries. Not worth it.
For a French Bakery. Why are they serving everything in paper plates and paper cups. They are probably only one that does that in town. That's not very French like. Pastries are decent, nothing stand out about it. My almond croissant is flat, as you can see in the picture, it taste good, but it is not French. Maybe I came in into a bad day, but nothing here deserve 5 star ratings.
Went around 9am Sunday morning. I got a peach danish and a croissant. Both were delicious. Laminated very well. The danish wasn't sweet, which I appreciate, just the natural flavor. I'd go back!
